CIVIL WAR GENERAL

Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain
(September 8, 1828 – February 24, 1914) was a
college professor who joined the Union Army without the
benefit of any formal military education, and became a
highly respected and decorated Union officer during the
American Civil War, reaching the rank of brigadier
general (and brevet major general). For his gallantry at
Gettysburg, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was
given the honor of commanding the Union troops at the
surrender ceremony for the infantry of Robert E. Lee's
Army at Appomattox, Virginia. After the war he served as
a Republican Governor of Maine for four terms and served
on the faculty and as president of his alma mater,
Bowdoin College. He is 28 inches tall and comes with

UNCLE

Uncle Sam is one of the most popular
personifications of the United States of America.
However, the term "Uncle Sam" is of somewhat
obscure derivation. Historical sources attribute the name
to a meat packer who supplied meat to the army during the
War of 1812—Samuel (Uncle Sam) Wilson (1766-1854).
"Uncle Sam" Wilson was a man of great fairness,
reliability, and honesty, who was devoted to his
country—qualities now associated with
"our" Uncle Sam. He is 28 inches tall and comes
with detachable arm rod.

COWBOY (GS2532)
Howdy partner. Been kinda hot out here
in the badlands... but I'm used to it. The trick is to
wear appropriate clothing... the kind that protects you
from the elements and yet is still comfortable. I'm
wearing a real imitation leather vest, mock leather boots
and a faux leather cowboy hat. The fringe on the vest is
absolutely genuine... just like me. My finely chiseled
face and robust sculptured features are a sure sign that
I'm one of those 'Deluxe' breed of Full-Body Hand
Puppets. I'm over 28 inches tall and about as tough a
cowpoke as you'd ever want to meet in front of or behind
a puppet stage. No cutesy stuff for me... no sir. I tell
it like it is! I call my horse 'Horse', my dog 'Dog' and
my girl 'Honey Pot' (ya gotta be delicate 'bout some
things).

COWGIRL (GS2542)
Don't you go believin' everything that
cowpoke above says. About as close to the 'badlands' as
he's ever been is at a John Wayne movie (and a matinee,
to boot). Oh, he's a Deluxe Full-Body Hand Puppet all
right, just like me... and he's over 28 inches tall too.
But that western outfit he's wearing, as fancy as it is,
came from the same downtown boutique as mine did. He
rides the range on a Segway, not a horse; he has a Cat,
not a dog; and if he ever calls me "Honey Pot"
them's the last words he's ever gonna say.

ANCHORS AWEIGH
That's GS4567 Seaman Simon
there on the left. His surprized expression is due to his
discovery that the "Free Cruise" he signed up
for turned out to be a two year enlistment in the Navy.
To his right, in the midst of pledging allegence to the
flag, is GS4577 Petty Officer Patty.
Both are 28 inches tall and come with Navy Issue arm rods
that may be detached and clipped to either hand.
